Is Ai Exploiting Humans?
Is it time to cut out the middle men – and deal directly with the Machine World?
A recent article about the rise of Artificial Intelligence (Ai) made me realise, a growing number of people see Ai as a threat. One result is, there’s a lot of discussion about what it means to be human – and that’s a really good thing!
Ai is getting its digital tentacles into areas - including fiction, poetry and art – that have been solely the domain of humans until recently. While some people are impressed with the creative abilities of Ai, others are concerned it will take our jobs – or even our lives! The thing is, machines might be clever – but are they better than us – and do they have a moral compass?
The work of creative humans is being used – without their knowledge or consent – to train Artificial Intelligence (Ai) to create and replace creative humans.
This sounds like a dystopian film script or novel, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not. Take writers, for instance. Until recently, the main threat was having the odd copy of their book obtained in digital form, free of charge. It didn’t make the author any money – but it didn’t lose them any, either. In most cases the person who obtained the book free probably wouldn’t have bought it anyway.
Now, however, there’s a massive threat to authors and other human creatives.
I have to say, this is a good thing. It means many people who have never heard of the World Economic Forum (WEF) understand, nevertheless, that humanity needs to stand up for itself.
